The Rehearsal Room is an exhibition space at the Morsbroich Museum where the City of Leverkusen’s art collection is presented from new perspectives. Here, it is not the museum’s curators who decide what is displayed, but the visitors. To this end, groups or individuals who work closely with the museum’s art education program are invited on a rotating basis. They select works from the collection and decide how they will be presented. From their own
personal perspective. The aim is to test new forms of presentation and explore which of these could be implemented throughout the museum.

NaturGut Ophoven sees itself as an educational and competence center for the sustainable and ecological development of society. It integrates climate and environmental protection into all areas of its work. With its outdoor grounds and the EnergieStadt Children’s and Youth Museum, it brings nature to life in the city of Leverkusen and demonstrates how climate and environmental protection can be achieved simply and on an individual level.

NaturGut Ophoven aims to encourage people to participate in shaping society and to inspire them to work toward a sustainable future. Through their own actions, everyone can drive sustainable development and, in this way, contribute to a better, more livable future.

Our work is guided by the 17 Goals of the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda. It promotes inquiry-based and discovery-based learning with the mind, heart, and hands in the spirit of Education for Sustainable Development. Our work is characterized by creativity, team spirit, and an equitable, social, and forward-looking sense of community. The team behind “MutReiferei,” the current exhibition at NaturGut Ophoven, brings its ideas and perspectives on the topics of courage and climate protection to the rehearsal space. The rehearsal space becomes the
MutProbe[raum]

In light of the pressing challenges of our time, courage is not something we can do without—it is a central resource: It manifests itself in motivation, moral courage, empathy, responsibility, curiosity, and democratic thinking.

The space celebrates this diversity and the multifaceted nature of courage with vibrant colors and a work of art by sculptor Martin Schönholz. This marble sculpture, titled “12 + 1,” depicts order,
repetition, and also the act of breaking free from the grid. This structure is built up and reassembled. Visitors are given space for bold thoughts, inspiration, and reflection on their own courage. Recycled, reused, and sustainable materials define the design and concept of this space. Sustainability is explored here not only thematically but also in practice—as an attitude and an aesthetic principle.

Visitors are invited to be courageous and to use the structure to question and articulate their own courage.

NaturGut Ophoven and the Morsbroich Museum invite you to the “Test of Courage”!
